Who We Are

In 1999, WDA’s founders, Deb Greinke and Cynthia Stasinski, realized that there were regional clubs, formal and informal, around the country dedicated to sharing ideas and standards of quality in web development. But there was no central body that allowed these groups to even know that others existed.

After months of researching and contacting these groups, Deb and Cynthia found they had enough support from members of these clubs to start the national Web Developers Association, with a structure based on 10 regions, including one for non-U.S. members. Regions are subdivided into chapters, which makes personal contact — important even in this day of electronic communication — easy.

Members of the Web Developers Association make a commitment of offering quality web sites that are of a positive and informative nature to the Internet Community. Each member’s web site brings something new and innovative to the World Wide Web, in the form of education, inspiration, support, products, or services.

When someone visits your web site and sees the WDA membership logo displayed, he or she knows that this is a web site that is a step above the rest.

Our annual awards program rewards the efforts of our best site developers and serves as inspiration to all other members.
